Conclusion
Gay in the media is always surrounded with controversy simply because some people aren't accepting enough to welcome diverse cultures into their community and celebrate their difference. If people don't accept not just gays but black, disabled, and Asian people then some of the minorities may protest in violent ways for not being treated equally. It happens today but only in small amounts. The level of tolerance however may decrease and the methods of protest might become more radical. Gay people are people and should be treated like people.

Film
An example of gay people in film is Brokeback Mountain. The film is about two men who get into a relationship that becomes complicated. The film is set over 20 years and shows the objectives the couple have to overcome to try and be together but fails as both men have married and had children these factors just make the situation even harder to get through.

It starts with the two working on a farm hearding sheep and leads to events in sexual and emotional matters. It recieved good reception from most people, claiming 4 golden globe awards. It was like a typical romance film but the only difference being the relationship was same-sex. Of course not everyone was welcome to the idea of the film as some theatre in places like Utah, the film was cancelled or stopped showing completely

News
Gay people in the news always seem to cause controversy especially when those are famous people. An example of this is Sir Elton John and when he adopted a baby boy. A lot of people disagree with gay people adopting as they think it is wrong since it is not natural for two men to have a baby.
Sir Elton John and David Furnish
Due to this controversy, a lot of governments over the world forbid gay couples to adopt, for example, the Ukrainian government stopped Elton John's first attempt to adopt. Peronally, I don't mind what sexuality someone is, it should depend on how well they bring up the child, not based on their marital status.
Another example is in America a 14 year old boy who was confused about his sexuality, commited suicide over homophobic bullying and abuse. He filmed a video to take part in the "it gets better" campaign to help those who need support and for those who feel alone in their situation. The boy also felt that his school and community didn't really care about people commiting suicide.

Television
An example of gay people on television is on Eastenders. This is shown between Christian and Syed. This an example of how hard it is for a gay relationship to work in a modern day society. It also shows how hard it is for someone to come to terms with their sexuality in their adult years. This is shown with Syed
Syed Masood (Marc Elliot)
At first Syed lived as a straight person but then when he met Christian he started to feel different. Slowly, he started to come to terms with his sexuality but what made it even harder was that has is from a muslim family and in their religion, being gay can't happen and is wrong. Eventually, Syed divorced his wife and started a relationship with Christian but at the cost of being disowned by his family and the local muslim community. This is an example of a modern gay relationship.

Another example of a gay person a television is on the show Glee. Glee shows how going through school whilst being gay is and the complications of bullying and discrimination in schools. Also a lot of people see Glee as a show for girls or for gays. Well, its not because I watch it and I'm not gay.
Kurt Hummel is shown as a character who is proud of who he is and is openly gay. But he struggles in life with all the bullying he recieves from the school "jocks". He has a little group of friends mainly from the glee club but this is because people are afraid of being around him as they don't want to be bullyed also. He transfers schools to get away from the bullies, at his new school he meets someone called Blaine who is also gay. He eventually comes back to what appears a more supportive school community. But there are still minorities that don't accept him which shows how narrow-minded people are towards this.
A stereotypical view of gay people: intro
Introduction
A lot of people view gay people as "wrong" or as a bad difference to heterosexual people. That is why I chose gay people, to show how they are represented in the media and how it is different to actual gay people in real life. I also chose it because not many people seem to be comfortable when it comes to talking about this particular subject. Also, the word gay is just thrown around in youth culture and even among adults. For example, if someone doesn't like a pair of trainers that you have, they might call them gay. This annoys me because just because you do something different to someone else doesn't mean that it affects your sexuality. When people asume, they often asume wrong, that is what is happening with the gay community.

News corp was in the news this summer because it was hacking mobile phones of important people so that they will get the stories first. But they were discovered and as it was illegal to hack phones, the newspaper (News Of The World) was shut down and does not operate anymore in way of an apology to all those who it affected.

Why I chose Media GCSE
I chose media as an option because it was the only subject I could see myself having a future in. Even if I don't have a future in media, I think it will be useful in other lines of work. For example, if I ever owned a buisness I would use media to create an effective advertisment maybe on T.V, in a magazine or on a billboard. I also enjoy working on computers which is another reason I chose media because computers are used quite a bit
My Media Interests
My name is David Smith and my media interests are films, T.V, music and computer games. My favourite film is the inbetweeners movie because it IS the funniest film I have ever seen.
My favourite T.V programmes include the simpsons, family guy and sky sports. This is because they are funny and enjoyable to watch.
Music that I like includes David Guetta, Rizzle Kicks and Black Eyed Peas. Computer games that I like include FIFA, Grand Theft Auto and Gran Turismo.
