Analysis of This Is England (Main Characters)

This Is England PosterOn the poster, the main characters are wearing mainly 1980s clothes this signifies the time the film is set in. This is also signified by the tag line saying 'Summer 1983'. The clothes are torn, especially the jeans. This signifies that the group could be from a poor area. This is also signified with the flats in the background. The clothes also make them stand out which ties in with the tag line where it says 'A Time To Stand Out From The Crowd'. This could also signify their personalities as very outgoing and unique.
Their body language signifies that they are intimidating as their facial expressions are showing a confident personality whilst all being in a big group. They might be trying to let people know that this is their area/territory.
They are also standing as if they don't care about anything which could signify that they are the people that didn't or aren't doing very well at school and so chose this lifestyle due to their lack of qualifications.
The fact that there is only one black person it the group signifies that this could be in a place or time where racism is a problem. This could also signify what the film is going to be about. The location seems to be a poor area. This is signified by the flats (which could be council flats) in the the background and the fact that there are no houses. This could also be a poor area because they are standing against a piece of what looks like corrugated metal or maybe wood instead of a typical brick wall.
They look like that they are loitering which signifies that they could just be talking to each other or perhaps having a meeting between the members of the group. They may also be loitering to look intimidating and to make people fear them. They also look suspicious which signifies that they could be about to do something that is maybe illegal. This could show that they are used to getting in trouble with people like authorities such as police and teachers.

Stereotypes 2

All four of them have an aggressive looking facial expression which tells us that they could be ready for a fight. They are also standing as if to scare people away from them as they want people to be afraid. The fact that they are wearing little-no clothes on some parts of the body show that they want their muscles to be exposed to look intimidating.

Stereotypes 1

They look like a team as they are both wearing the same clothes. They're facial expressions are both serious which perhaps means that they part of an important organisation. They are also standing in a serious stance as if to say that they are ready for action. The sunglasses and watches they are wearing also say that they are part of an important/ government group.

What makes a good film trailer

In a typical film trailer there are usually scenes from the film. They are mostly the best bits of the film to make people want to see it. There is also background music. This is something that indicates the genre of the film the trailer is about. For example in the Avengers trailer there is dramatic music in the background when there is fighting scenes. There is sometimes also a voice-over man that speaks over the trailer. They are usually used for action and thriller films because they have the most dramatic scenes. At the start of a trailer there is usually a production company logo.

Ideas for my film website

On my film website I would have a trailer in one of the corners so the audience would have an idea of what to expect in the film. I would also have the release date on it so people will know when the film is out. My website would also include a bio for some of the main characters so people know what some of the characters will be like in the film, there could also links to others pages on the site that relate to the particular character. There would also be a photo gallery to show still images of some scenes that people could use as wallpapers or screen savers. They would also be a link to the various social website pages the film is associated with so people can follow the page that belongs to the film. There could be a link to a online store that sells merchandise related to the film so people can buy things related to the film if they enjoyed it.

What makes a good film website

A good film website includes enough information about the film without giving away the main contents of the plot. This information could include the film trailer, a photo gallery, a synopsis of the film or facts about the characters. The website should also have the age certificate on it so people know what age it is recommended for. It should also say either the release date or if it is in cinemas now. It should also have extras that make it so people will want to stay on the website and use its features. This could include games, quizzes, puzzles etc. It could have links to social network pages such as Facebook and Twitter. They could also include competitions on it to keep audiences interested by showing what prizes are available or by making the competitions enjoyable instead of the normal type by giving in your personal details and answering a question or calling a certain phone number.
